So I did a bit of a retcom to this comic. Originally Sam’s mother was going to be a part of the story, but the “Deaths Door” arc kind of destroyed my orignal idea, I’m okay with it because the new stuff I came up with is much better then what I had in mind.

Hmmm. Either statement works good I think. The brief mention of Sam’s mother disowning her doesn’t necessarily lead one to think that mom will appear later.
