I’m going to step outside comic-land for a sec to comment on that video.
….because, really? Blaming Mr Rogers? That’s a bit extreme.
If kids grow up feeling entitled to this, that, and the other thing without working, that’s not the failing of the nice man on your favorite TV show who told you you’re special because you’re you. No way. That’s the failing of the parents who didn’t teach their kids to straighten their special @$$es up, and not waste their talent being bums.
TL;DR: be a freakin’ parent. Guide your kids to learn good values. Don’t rant and blame Mr Rogers because you didn’t do your job.
I would add to The Merry Lurker’s spot-on comment about parenting, that our schools have added their fair share of ruination. I have been working at a university since 1985 … I have seen a steady drop in apparent literacy of the students and a steady increase in the numbers of people with the aforementioned sense of entitlement. I can not in good conscience blame it on a man who told children that it was okay to feel good about themselves. He wasn’t telling them that anyone owed them anything. This “professor” of which they speak apparently needs to go back to school himself. What a load of tripe.
I’m from Australia, I grew up watching Australian kids shows, and even *I* know Mr Rogers is the nicest, happiest, most caring man in this world. Good job Fox News, you’ve pissed off an Australian.
1) Fox news has to be the most bias, craptastic excuse of a news agency I’ve ever seen. I grew up watching Mr. Rogers all the time. He promoted liking yourself and feeling good about you. I didn’t think they could get worse but they proved me wrong.
2) I recently started reading the comic and must say I absolutely love it. Keep it up.
3) I wanted to post earlier but all of the previous issues have a picture for verification and none of the pictures show. Just thought you should know if you didn’t already.
This video is from 2008; it’s not new. And, much as I might dislike Fox News, I’m pretty sure they were being tongue in cheek when they called him an “evil, evil man”; they were making fun of the professor.
